Server Virus Cleanup

March 2014

The Company

A product distribution client of 50+ users, with about 10 servers.

The Problem

Their antivirus deployment was spotty at best.

One of their primary file servers was infected by a virus late in the afternoon one day, rendering their company resources inaccessible. The restore had been attempted incorrectly from backup by preexisting resources, significantly complicating the situation.

  • Server Infrastructure for File Sharing
  • Phone System and Firewall

The Solution

We were called in to clean up the server, restoring access and stabilize the environment.

We devoted 2 technicians working 24 hours in an hour overnight operation to deploy an organization wide antivirus and clean infected files. The access issues caused by incorrect infrastructure restoration were resolved and restored to about 80% by the time the users came in. The remainder of cleanup was performed in a manner that allowed the companies employees to be as productive as possible.

Within 24 hours it was business as usual, but with a sound, newly protected infrastructure.
